Rick, 60, of Gilbert, AZ, passed away May 2, 2009. He was born in Missoula, Montana, the son of George W. and Janet (Ottman) Wamsley. The family lived in Kalispell, Montana until 1961 then relocated to Scottsdale. Richard graduated from Arcadia High School in 1967 and attended Arizona State University, earning degrees in 1971 and 1980. He taught for 35 years, most of his career spent in the Chandler School District at Willis Junior and Hamilton High School, retiring in 2008 as a photography teacher. Richard was a member of Mensa and life long learner of many interests, particularly music, painting, and photography. He traveled extensively, leading high school students to Europe, visiting Mexico, and touring China. His photographs reflect his artistry and appreciation for nature and culture. Richard is survived by and will be missed by his father, wife, daughters, brother, large extended family, and many friends and former students. Donations can be made in his memory to the Arizona Humane Society. Published in The Arizona Republic
