Terry I. Major

Terry Major was born in Burlington, IA. He was adopted by Robert L. and Ina Mae Major of Mason City, IA when Terry was about 2 months old. Terry attended Jefferson Elementary School in Mason City into the 2nd Grade. In 1956 the Majors moved to Phoenix, AZ. Terry attended Alhambra Elementary School (37th Ave. and Grand Ave.) for the last part of his 2nd Grade year. Then the Majors moved to 2028 W. Citrus Way and Terry attended Maryland Ave. School from 3rd Grade into the 6th Grade. Near the beginning of the 6th Grade year, the Majors moved to 5214 E. Flower where Terry attended Ingleside Elementary School and then on to Arcadia High School..

After High School, Terry attended Arizona State University graduating in 1971 with a B.A. in Secondary Education. Terry's parents and sister, Robin, had moved back to Iowa early in 1968 and Terry's father had purchased a funeral business in Des Moines. Upon graduation, Terry moved to Iowa and went into buisness with his father. He attended Commonwealth College of Science in Houston Texas from Septembar of 1972 through August of 1973. This prepared Terry to take the National and State Funeral Director's examinations and to become licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.

Terry was married to Louise Confessore in July of 1973. He and Louise moved back to Des Moines where Terry worked with his father in the funeral business until September of 1976. Terry then went into the Life Insurance business for a short time. Terry joined the U.S. Army in August of 1977 and went to Basic Training at Lort Leonard Wood and then on to Goodfellow Air Force Base for Cryptologic Traffic Analysis training. After that school, Terry was assigned to the Defense Language Institute in Montere, CA where Terry learned German.

During the assignment at the Presidio of Monterey, Terry's daughter, Amy, was born.

From Monterey Terry was assigned for temporary duty to Fort Devens, MA. At the assignment Terry was trained in a 'Radio Intercept Operator Class'. From there, the assignment was the National Security Agency at Fort George G. Meade, MD. Terry completed his service at this assignment in December of 1980.

During the time at Fort Meade, Terry's son, Todd, was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C..

After the Army years, Terry took a position with a funeral home in Erie, PA, but that only lasted about 6 months. Terry and his family moved back to Phoenix in May of 1981 and purchased the home in February of 1982 where Terry and Louise are still living today.

Terry's career experience in Arizona has included teaching mathematics to 7th and 8th graders for one year, starting a small computer business, writing software, working as a personal assistant to a man who had a Radio Talk show on financial matters, and working through a number of tempory agencies providing computer support to companies in the Phoenix area.

Today, Terry has his own business providing computer support to small business in the Phoenix area. The business includes sales and repair of computers and printers and network/internet support to clients.
