ARCADIA HIGH SCHOOL LETTERMEN OFFICERS FOR 1966-67: Seated left to right - President, John Ziska; Sponsor, Mr. Amerson; Vice-President, Mike Rex. Standing left to right - Chaplain, John Fondrisi; Sceretary-Treasurer, Steve Anair, Sergeant-at-Arms, Jim Gieszl. One of the largest and most active clubs on the Arcadia campus is the Arcadia Letterman's Club. Made up of male students who have earned an "A" letter in a varsity sport, this fine group of young men spend many extra hours furthering the efforts of the Athletic Department, as well as many all-school activities. |
Traditionally, Arcadia boys have worked long and hard to become a member of Letterman's Club. Once they have made the grade, they always find that continued hard work is necessary to satisfy the goals of the club. Producing and selling programs at all Arcadia home football games is one of the big projects of the school year. All money netted in this endeavor is placed in the club treasury to be used in purchasing equipment and needs for Arcadia athletics and students not otherwise covered in regular budgeted school money. A party honoring all coaches and new club members is usually the big Spring event for Lettermen. This project, along with many others such as selling Titan megaphones, Titan Fight Pins, promoting a carnival booth and sponsoring dances, make up the money making works of the club. Special services are rendered by the club through such projects as ushering at special school events, promoting school spirit, painting trash containers and work at beautifying the campus grounds and community streets, leading the way in school citizenship as to spirit, dress, and obeying school laws in conduct and behavior. Many "extras" for the school have been purchased through club funds: Trophy cases, Walkie-talkies, a refrigerator (for the physical education department to provide ice packs, for sprains, etc.), All-state pennants, Titan Head for the gym, and a 16 MM movie camera (for filming practices and athletic games), a Grass-tex pole vault runway to mention just a few. The Letterman's Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the students, faculty, administrators, and especially you parents, for all the help you have given them and the Arcadia Athletic Department - - and their hope is that they may continue to serve each of you in any way that they can. |
